Divorce
In December of 1992 Princess Diana and Prince Charles decided to separate. Their marriage was not healthy and theyy did not want to be together if they were going to be unhappy. In December of 1995, Queen Elizabeth, Charles' mother, thought that it would be best if they got a divorce. Charles agreed to this. Diana agreed to this arrangement, but she was extremely sad about the decision. She insisted that she be involved in all things dealing with their children, and she wanted to keep her home at the Kensington Palace. The divorce was finalized in July of 1995, 3 weeks before Charles and Diana's 15th wedding anniversary.

Diana kept her image as the Princess of Wales but her duties lessened. She was able to spend more time with her two children. She also spent time helping with her favorite charities. In June of 1997, she auctioned off 79 of her gowns to help raise money for one of her charities. She raised over 2 million dollars, it was one of her most famous fund raisers.
