Diana's public life began to change the moment that she met Prince Charles at a party in Buckingham Palace. She began to travel with Prince Charles after they were married. Her first official tour with Prince Charles was in 1981, a three day trip to Wales. In 1983 the traveled to Australia and New Zealand. Then in 1985, they took both of their children and went to Italy. Other official visits included India, Brazil, Canada, Nigeria, Camaroon, Spain and France.

Suddenly, Prince Charles started taking a back seat to Princess Diana. The press wanted to talk to her and photograph her - the public wanted to see her - not Charles, and he became very jealous. When Diana realized that he had gone back to his old love, Camilla Parker Boles, she was very upset.

Prince Charles and Diana took their last trip to South Korea in 1992. During their marriage, Diana was president of more than one hundred charities. Some of Diana's well known charities were for battered women, shelters for the homeless, hospices, aids victims, Red Cross and land mines.

When the fairytale story of Prince Charles and Princess Diana ended, she told the press it was "very very sad - really sad." She planned a new life for herself and her children would be most important to her. But even after she had begun to try and live like a normal person, the paparazzi followed her everywhere. She had to try and prove to the Metropolitan Police that she could survive on her own, without any bodyguards.

Something that was not known to the public was Diana's battle with bulimia. Since the wedding, she had been dealing with her bulimia around four times a day. Diana became terribly thin and she was in a state of depression. She even tried to slit her wrists at one time, and the Queen had her treated by a psychiatrist. Diana was now having trouble coping with the crouwds and to top off her battle with bulimia, she discovered she was expecting her first child, William. After her children were born, she was a much happier person.

Fashion became a major part of Princess Diana's life. When she became engaged she only had one long dress, one silk shirt, one pair of shoes and that was it. Suddenly, she had to go with her mother and buy six of everything for the entire year. She described this experience as "unbelievable." She was expected to change clothes four times a day. Later Princess Diana became a "fashion statement" for the entire world.
