Leonardo da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452 in Vinci, Italy, a small Tuscan town outside of Florence, Italy. His father was a wealthy Florentine notary by the name of Ser Piero and Leonardo's mother was a poor peasant girl by the name of Caterina. Leonardo had 17 brothers and sisters to grow up with.
