Armor

"Armor is a covering used to protect body from injury by weapon."Primitive armor was made from wood and different animal hides. The 15th and 16th centuries were the most enivative for armor. Armor became useless in the 17th century when firearms became increasingly powerful and battle tactics changed. It changed from heavily armored assaults to fast moving cavalry skirmishes. During the 18th century armor became completely obsolete except for in ceremonial occasions.

There are many diffrent parts to a suit of armor. There is the helm or helmet, the breastplate, the gauntlet, the greaves.

The helmets were sometimes equipped with visors but also were open faced.

The breastplates were used to cover the chest area so that the opponents weapon would not injure them severly.

Gauntlets were the armored gloves used to guard the hand and some of the fore arms.

Greaves were used to guard the legs.

Chain mail was used to keep the body safe from arrows and also to keep the person from being cut open by an opponents sword.
