April 26, 2002 Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, member of hip-hop R&B group TLC, was killed in a car accident Thursday in Honduras. The head on collision on a treacherous two-lane country road occurred shortly before 6 p.m. outside of La Ceiba, a town on the Alantic coast, said Carlos Bakota,a spokesman for the U.S. Embassy. "Lopes, who was driving, died instantly", he said. The singer was one of eight people in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
Three members of Egypt were taken to Dantoni Hospital in La Ceiba. She was going to turn 31 on May 26.
She was on vacation in the Central American Country. They also said that she was trying to pass as car on Hondrus highway near Juitiapa,
when a truck approached from the other lane Thursday night,forcing her to veer sharpley to the left. The Mitsubishi Montero she was driing struck two
trees and flipped over several times. The seriousness of the accident ndicated that Lopes was speeding. They really don't know how fast she was going.
She had 8 other people in the montero. The 8 others survived, but she died instanly. She would of turned 31 next month. This is a very sad thing for alot
of her fans.
Thousands of admirers have lined up outside a church near Alanta to atternd the funeral of singer Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes. Lopes funeral took place at New Birth Missionary
Baptist Church. The church has 10,000 seats, and olice estimated as many as 30,000 showed up.
